There’s many people and many groups doing trojan work in our national effort to fight Covid-19.  Tonight I want to highlight the Grantstown Troopers out of Grantstown Community Centre who are working hard to provide meals, shopping and company to those in need at this time.

Massive respect to centre manager Lesley Jones, Mags Stafford and Kathleen Colfer in the kitchen, carer Denise O Brien, shoppers Liz Browne, Fiona Conroy, Joe O Rielly and John, Anna Walsh and Ellie McCarthy in laundry and Ciaran Breen in maintenance.  And well done to volunteers Joan O Connor, Jenny Holoway, Jack Farragher, Niamh McCormack, Annie Murphy, Marisa O Neill, Grace O Sullivan, Karen Doyle and Mary Quirke.

Before and after this Corona Virus, Grantstown plays an integral role in its community, providing WWETB Training, Horticultural courses, 24 residential units, 16 more houses which have just received planning, a new therapy room opening soon, an occupational therapist, a physio therapist and a chiropodist, a counsellor, a hairdresser, meals-on-wheels, a minibus service, day care centre and shop on site.

They are always looking for more volunteers to keep these fantastic services operational.

Well done Grantstown.
